1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how GOJO Education ("GOJO," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the GOJO Student App for Android, package name com.gojoeducation.student. The app gives authorized students access to school-connected learning, academic, assessment, communication, and profile features made available by participating schools.
2. Who Provides the Service
The Student App is part of the GOJO Education platform. GOJO operates the application and supporting systems. Participating schools and authorized school staff provide or manage some student, school, course, academic, and account information and may determine which features are available.
3. Information We Process
Depending on the school and features used, the Student App may process:
- Account and identity information: name, username or student code, internal authentication and user identifiers, account status, school identifier or code, grade, section, and profile image.
- School and academic information: subjects, courses, learning materials, schedules, calendars, announcements, attendance where enabled, marks, scores, rank or leaderboard information, academic progress, and teacher or staff information connected to the student's school experience.
- Assessment and exam information: available assessments and exams, questions, answers, selected answer images, drafts, submissions, attempts, completion state, timing, scores, feedback, and practice-exam progress.
- Communications: chat contacts, message text, selected image attachments, timestamps, delivery and read state, and edited or deleted message state.
- Student-created and preference information: profile photo, notes, bookmarks, saved posts or content, likes or reactions, topic feedback, app appearance and notification preferences, and app-lock settings.
- Device and technical information: session information, authentication tokens, app state, connectivity status, request timestamps, error and security information, and standard server logs that may include IP address, device or app details, and requested endpoints.
- Support and request information: information included when a student, parent or guardian, or school contacts GOJO about support, privacy, correction, or deletion.
4. Sources of Information
Information may come from the student, a parent or guardian, the participating school and its authorized staff, existing GOJO Education records, actions taken in the Student App, and the device or network used to access the service.
5. How We Use Information
GOJO uses information to authenticate students; verify school and account authorization; provide profiles, learning materials, schedules, academic records, assessments, exams, scores, progress, saved content, notifications, and messaging; synchronize data and support offline features; protect accounts and the service; diagnose problems; respond to requests; and comply with applicable legal and school obligations.
7. School-Provisioned Accounts and Authorization
Student accounts are generally created, provisioned, or approved through participating schools or authorized administrators rather than through open public registration. Access is tied to school-managed identity and enrolment records. Students must protect their credentials and contact GOJO or their school if they suspect unauthorized access.
8. Photos, Media, and Device Access
The Student App may allow a student to choose an image for a profile photo, chat attachment, or assessment answer, and may allow a user to save a school post image to the device. The app processes only the media selected or created for that action. The Android app is configured to avoid broad read access to the user's photo, video, and audio libraries and uses a system selection experience where supported. The Student App does not use location, contacts, microphone recording, or camera capture as active features in the reviewed release.
9. Local Storage and Offline Features
The app stores limited information on the device to maintain a signed-in session, remember preferences, support app lock, improve loading, queue selected uploads, and make chosen learning materials, books, assessments, exams, notes, or other content available offline. Local data may remain until it expires, is replaced, the user signs out or clears app data, or the app is uninstalled, depending on the feature.
10. Data Retention
GOJO retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Student App, support participating schools, maintain academic and account records, protect the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal or operational obligations. Retention may depend on school instructions and applicable educational-record requirements. When deletion is approved, data is deleted or de-identified where reasonably possible, subject to required records, security logs, backups, and legal obligations.
11. Security
GOJO uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access and school-scoped authorization. No transmission or storage method is completely secure. Students should keep credentials and app-lock passcodes private and use a secure device.
12. Students and Children's Privacy
The Student App is an education service for authorized students connected to participating schools. It is not designed for unrestricted public account creation, social discovery, or advertising. Schools, parents, or guardians should provide any authorization or consent required by applicable law. A parent or guardian may contact GOJO or the participating school about a student's information or account.
13. Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on location and the relevant school relationship, a student, parent or guardian may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of certain personal information. Some profile and preference information can be managed in the app. Requests involving official school or academic records may require coordination with the participating school.
14. Account and Data Deletion Requests
A deletion request can be submitted without signing in by following the instructions on the Student App Data & Account page. GOJO may need to verify identity and coordinate with the participating school before changing or deleting a school-provisioned account or educational record.
15. International Processing
GOJO and its service providers may process information in countries other than the user's country. Where required, GOJO uses appropriate measures for such processing and applies this policy to information handled for the Student App.
16. Changes to This Policy
GOJO may update this Privacy Policy as the Student App, legal requirements, or school services change. The Last Updated date will identify the current version.
17. Contact Us
For Student App privacy, account, or data questions, email [email protected] or contact the participating school.
